Robert Dean Long SSgt. USAF, (Ret.), age 66, passed from this life on May 28, 2019. A private memorial and inurnment will be held for Mr. Long by his family at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Robert was born to Bobby and Virginia Latimer Long April 16, 1953 in Las Vegas, NV. Mr. Long would go on to graduate Trinity High School in Euless, TX at age 17 and proudly joined the United States Air Force. After 20 years of service to our country, Mr. Long would retire a decorated Sargent from the Air Force. Robert relocated to Tyler where he went to work for the State of Texas as a prison guard for 11 years before making his home in Marshall where he transferred to the Texas Marshalls Office as a jailer. Mr. Long was very proud of his service to both our country and the State of Texas. On April 15, 2007, Mr. Long gave his life to Jesus Christ and followed with Baptism. Robert was a long time member of Port Caddo Baptist Church where he was active with the Men’s Bible Study. Mr. Long was a loving man who enjoyed spending time with his family whenever he could, and enjoyed giving back at the Mission Marshall Food Pantry where he was a regular volunteer. Robert Long was much loved and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Long is preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Long, and his father. Robert is survived by his mother; brothers, Joe Long, Tommy long and wife Marilyn; nephews, Kevin Long and wife Kelly, Jason Long and wife Lacie, and Chris Long; his step daughter, Alesa Erin Granberry and husband Matt, and numerous friends and neighbors.
