Tribute

Rene Vences was born on May 26, 1963 in Bejucos, Mexico to his parents Angel and Rosa Vences. He was the oldest of seven children: Cruz, Angel Jr, Miguel, Eddie, Erasmo and Julian. He has been married to his beautiful wife, Maria Roque Vences for 42 years. One wish of his was to have a big family and that he did. He was blessed with 6 children: Rene Jr, Cesar, Emanuel, Josue, Abigail, and Isaí. With that being said, He went on to have 9 precious grandchildren.
Rene was a man who put God first in everything, he attended Casa de Oración Spanish Assembly of God in Longview, Tx . The Lord knew how much he loved his Church and the whole congregation. One saying that he lived by was “To God be the Glory”. There wasn’t a day that went by where he didn’t give thanks to God for all that he’s blessed him with. Whether it was a room in his house, supporting missions (oh how he loved missions), or houses for his children; the more God gave him, the more he gave to others.
Rene, if nothing more, was a selfless and loving person. He never failed to light up a room with his smile and signature cowboy hat, leaving a warm impression everywhere he went. While he enjoyed a big party, nothing meant more to him than getting the family together at his house to play dominoes, or eat his mothers “famous mole”. No matter what place, spending time with the ones he loved the most was always his favorite way to pass the time. Humor was the method Rene expressed his love to one another, as he enjoyed making jokes and giving people nicknames. His compassionate and comedic personality will never be forgotten.
Rene accomplished several meaningful things throughout his lifetime. There are many people who wish to come to the U.S. in hopes of fulfilling the American Dream. Rene had these same hopes, and was able to attain these dreams and much, much more. His main goal was to provide for his family, and after working his way up from making 3.50 an hour to operating 3 successful businesses and worked with over 130 employees. Rene had many accomplishments in his lifetime, but what he would’ve considered his biggest was being an amazing son, loving husband, and caring father. We will love you forever. Our beloved Cowboy.
