A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Norris James Johnson, age 82, of Waskom TX, on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marshall, TX. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home in Marshall, TX. Norris James Johnson was born February 24, 1940 in Pollock, TX to Mr. Elbert Lee Johnson and Mrs. Jonnie Bernice Loving Johnson. He passed from this life March 18, 2022 at his home in Waskom, TX.
Norris was a lifetime truck driver, logging over three million safe miles with Roadway Express. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 568 for 33 years serving as job steward and local officer. Mr. Johnson proudly served his country in the United States Army. He coached Waskom Little and Pony League Baseball for many years. Mr. Johnson was active in Waskom FFA Ag boosters. He loved his church and having people pass his pew and pat him on the shoulder or shake his hand. He was an active 3rd and 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. Norris also served as an Acolyte for Masses until he became ill. Later in life, Mr. Johnson enjoyed gardening, sitting on the back porch with his Miller Lite and Snuff, and watching the trucks pass by on I-20. Above all else, Norris loved his family so very much and always told his children that he envisioned them on the hood of his 18-wheeler every time that he made a trip.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Stephanie Bell Vailes, his parents; and his brothers, Robert Lee Johnson, and Raymond Lee Johnson. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Ruby Johnson; his eight children and their spouses, Mary Futch Lutz and husband Brent, Michael Johnson and wife Lisa, John Johnson and wife Shannon, Cindy Bell and husband Steve, Kim Cason and husband Glen, Rhonda Sepulvado, Stephen Johnson and wife Amanda, and Jerry Johnson and wife Felicia, 21 grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren; his sisters, Joyce Davis, and Lula Day and husband Raymond; his brother Paul Johnson, and numerous nieces, nephews, beloved relatives, and dear friends. Norris James Johnson is dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Serving as Pallbearers are Reagan Johnson, David Futch, Ty Jones, Hunter Johnson, Dakota Johnson, and Max Sepulvado.
