Michael (Mike) Lee Gregory, Sr. was born March 24, 1947 in Dallas, Texas. On May 15, 2018, he went to be with his Heavenly Father. Mike was raised in Dallas, Texas by his loving parents Marvin Lee and June Elizabeth Gregory and had one brother, Buddy Wayne Gregory, Sr who preceded him in death. Mike was known around his community and beyond for his love of the Lord and his family, his generosity and his undying work ethic and least of all, his paralysis that made him wheelchair bound. Mike was heavily involved with his local church and although he was in a wheelchair, was often seen helping cooking meals and working to better his community.
In 1971, he married the love of his life, Lora Kay Wickersham at the First Baptist Church in Downtown Dallas, Texas. They would have celebrated 47 years of marriage this October and had two children, Michael Lee Jr. and Graden Lane. Mike was praised for his work as a contractor throughout the DFW area and received many accolades for his part of building the Dallas Skyline. Even though you could see his disability, you would never have known by his actions that he was handicapped. Mike never let anything get in his way and refused to be labeled as a disabled person often charging ahead of his able bodied competitors, garnering respect in a hard community of peers. Even after he was paralyzed from the waist down, Mike enjoyed life to the fullest. He used a mono ski in Christi Butte in Colorado, and traveled to the Caribbean with is family. He enjoyed the outdoors and took many road trips with his boys. Mike never met a stranger and could lighten up any situation with his quick wit and humor.
Mike will be missed by many and his life will be celebrated on Friday, May 18th, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Church of Uncertain in Karnack, Texas. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 pm to service time. Graveside services will be conducted at Restland Cemetery in Dallas on Saturday, May 19th, 2018 at 4:00 pm with a visitation at Restland Funeral Home from 2:00pm to service time. Both services will be officiated by his long time pastor and dear friend, Joe Chisum. Flowers will be received at either service and will be delivered to the family.
Mike is survived by many family members, his aunts Doris Coates and Nita Weger, his uncle William Earl Gregory, his wife, Kay Gregory, his two sons, Michael Lee Jr. and wife, Katrina, and Graden Lane Gregory. His grandchildren are Darren, "Tres", Ellie, Lucas and Nell.
