Funeral services for Margaret Ann Herrin, age 94, will be conducted at 1:30 PM in the Colonial Chapel at Sullivan Funeral Home on Sunday, April 15, 2018. Officiating will be Rev. Thad Carter of Wesley United Methodist Church where Mrs. Herrin was a longtime member. Visitation will be held Saturday evening at Sullivan Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 PM. Graveside services will immediately follow the funeral at Colonial Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Herrin passed away on April 8, 2018 in Marshall, TX. She was born September 15, 1923 in Lincoln, NE to Nestor Konstantine Gikas and Aphrodite "Frieda" Coronis Gikas. She attended Baylor University and was accepted into Baylor Dental School. However, she chose to follow her heart and marry her beloved husband, Dr. Bob J. Herrin, in 1958. Margaret was skilled professionally in many areas. Over the years, she worked as an executive secretary, realtor, and as both an industrial and medical researcher. She was devoted to her family and an exceptional partner to her husband in every way. She enjoyed tennis, golf, snow skiing, ice skating, and water skiing together with her family.
Mrs. Herrin was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David "Larry" Jones; and three brothers, Theodore "Ted", John, and Chris Gikas. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Bob J. Herrin, M.D.; two daughters, Sylvia Herrin Snodgrass and husband John, and Sandra "Missy" Herrin Ashley and husband Lannie; and seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Benjamin, Rebecca, and Stephen Snodgrass, Aiden and Brennen Ashley, and Patricia Jones.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Kenneth Gikas, Edward Smith III, Paul Fugler, Bryan Buckner, David Roye, Jonathan Snodgrass, Benjamin Snodgrass, and Stephen Snodgrass. Honorary pallbearers will be: Aiden Ashley and Brennen Ashley.
