Mamie D. Harper, 81, of Marshall passed away August 26, 2022 in Marshall. She was born June 24, 1941 in Marshall to Eddie Riley and Vera Mae Jones Riley. Mamie graduated from Marshall High School in 1958 and went on to beauty school. She was a stylist and owned a number of beauty shops in Marshall including Mike’s Hair Salon until retiring. She married Billy Ray Harper July 2, 1994 in Marshall, he preceded her in death April 15, 2017. She loved to go dancing, trips to Vegas, knitting, sewing and going to eat catfish.
She is survived by her daughters: Sheila Rhyne and her better half Billy Sistrunk of Harleton, Karen D. Maguire and her husband Raymond of Hallsville, Sheri D. Nolan and her husband Doug of Marshall; son: Randy D. Roberts and his wife Shaunda of Carthage; grandchildren: Wesley P. Carlton and wife Mandi of Hallsville, Clayton D. Paxton and wife Ash of Texarkana, Ark, Waylon Nolan and wife Kacey of Marshall, Dusty Nolan and wife Angel of Wyoming, Ashley N. Davison and husband Bulldog of Union Grove, Lauren G. Ricossa of San Antonio, Sara V. Moseley and husband Parker of Carthage, Rikki A. Harris and Husband Skylar of Carthage; great grandchildren: Tristan Paxton, Emberlyn Paxton, Delanny Carlton, Caleb Carlton, Blake Ricossa, Eli Harris, Jett Austin Harris, Charleigh Harris, Randi Moseley, and Dalton Davison; sister-in-law: Ouida Fay Riley; and her very best friend: Earlene Smith of Marshall. Mamie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Billy Ray Riley.
A service to celebrate Mamie’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at the Little Chapel by the Lake at Colonial Gardens Cemetery with Bro. Jeremy Bowers officiating. Interment will follow at Colonial Gardens Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home and Memorial Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mamie’s honor to the Marshall Missionary Baptist Church, 300 Medill Street, Marshall, TX 75670.
