Lorenzo “Bay” Brown was born on September 1, 1950 to Mr. Mort Brown and Mrs. Mary D. Yancy Brown in Jefferson, Texas. He is preceded in death by both parents and three brothers, Eugene Yancy, Rev. W.C. Yancy, and J.C. Brown.
Baptized into the Baptist faith at a very early age, Lorenzo joined Berean Baptist Church under the Pastorage of Rev. W.H. Holt.
Lorenzo graduated from Central High School in Jefferson, Texas in 1968. Immediately after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served proudly for over 21 years. Sgt. Brown rose to the rank of Technical Sergeant and continued his education while serving on active duty (Community College of the Air Force and Palo Alto College in San Antonio). Sgt. Brown was an Air Force Intelligence Specialist, and served over 4 years at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Tours of duty and travels took him to Germany, England, Italy, Japan, Korea and the Philippines.
Lorenzo also retired from the University of Texas HSC (San Antonio) Police Department after serving for 23 years.
Lorenzo met the love of his life, Dolphus M. Goynes, in 1964, his freshman year at Central High School. It took a while, but, in September of 2008, they were married. He leaves to cherish his memories, his beautiful wife, Dolphus; 2 step-children; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Maurice Brown and his wife Joyce of Jefferson, Texas; 3 sisters/cousin, Bobbie, Bren, and Glenda Faye; and a host of cousins, niece, nephews, and close friends.
