Funeral services for Mrs. Lennie Naomi Talley, age 99, are schedule for Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Travis Street Chapel at Sullivan Funeral Home in Marshall, TX. Bro. Leonard Nichols of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Harleton, TX will be officiating. Visitation is scheduled for September 9, 2021 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Naomi was born November 13, 1921 in Harleton to Oscar and Gladys Whitehead Wilson. She passed into God’s arms September 6, 2021 in Longview.
After graduation from Harleton High School, she enrolled in St. Mary’s Academy. On January 8, 1942, she and Joseph O. Talley married and on December 23, 1942, they welcomed twin daughters JoAnn and Jeanette were born in Blytheville, Arkansas. Six years later, they welcomed Joseph Charles Talley.
Naomi worked at Weisman’s Department Store. Joe and Naomi and their son Charles went into business at the Talley Gulf Automotive Shop in Marshall. After retiring, they enjoyed traveling, the Shrine Club and Auxiliary and were members of Eastern Star #356. They built a cabin on the land where Joe was born in Burkeville, TX. They took all grandchildren camping every summer. She was the election judge for 20 years for Nesbitt precinct and was a member of the Nesbitt Baptist Church.
She is survived by daughters, JoAnn Selz and Jeanette Murray and one brother, Richard Carol Wilson and wife Geneva. She has eight grandchildren, Sara Selz, Alison Hill, Karen Storrie, James Murray, Tommy Murray, Yancy Murray, Chuck Talley, and Nicole Schnorbus. Her great-grandchildren are Makenzie Miles, Alex Miles, Abbey Latner, Haylea Murray, Peyton Murray, Samantha Ritchey, Georgia Talley, Mitchell Talley, Maryann Murray, and Madyson Murray. One great-great-grandchild, Emmy and another on the way and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe; one son, Charles Talley, and her three brothers.
Pallbearers are as follows: Jeff Wilson, Peyton Murray, James Murray, Tommy Murray, Yancy Murray, and Chuck Talley.
