Lana Rose Kline, 78, of Humble passed away peacefully on August 19th in the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Hockley, Texas. She was born January 15, 1943 in Marshall, Texas to Perry and Media Richardson Bunt. She grew up in the Walker’s Mill community of Hallsville, Texas and graduated from Hallsville High School where she was a cheerleader and a member of the All-District basketball team. She was even a member of a quartet called The Mellowtones. She was raised in the Church of Christ where she developed her love of God, faith and family. Although her early career was with Thiokol Chemical Corporation in Karnack, Texas, her passion was in the travel industry. She began working with Texas International Airlines in Longview as a reservationist, and that led to working as a travel agent for several different agencies from Longview, TX, including Box Office Travel and Clientele Trave to Traverse City, Michigan and finally to Humble, Texas where she retired as owner of Top Travel. Lana was very active in her community and was a part of many different professional organizations such as Professional Connection, ABWA, Humble Area Chamber of Commerce and other networking groups. She served on many committees and had leadership roles in most all these groups. She loved her BUNCO group and Red Hat ladies, whom she formed lasting relationships with. Lana never met a stranger, had a giving spirit, warm heart, quick smile and was always looking to include others in her circle of friends. Lana was always ready to go, whether it was on a cruise for business or pleasure, camping with friends, the casino in Lake Charles, dinner at her favorite Mexican restaurant or on the porch for coffee and a cigarette! Most of all, she loved her family, and they loved her right back! John (Kip) is her oldest child, and he blessed her with her first grandchildren, whom she adored. She was so proud to become a Nana to both Sean and Hannah. She was super blessed when Hannah made her a great grandmother with Raegan, Harrison, Samuel and Owen. Her daughter, Angie, became her best friend, as they lived with each other on and off throughout their adult years. Because of this, Lana was able to enjoy Angie’s children, Jake, Alex and Jordan. She was a huge part of their lives and rarely missed a basketball, baseball, volleyball or swim meet cheering on her grandkids. In 2016, when Angie married Gary, Lana was blessed again with a bonus granddaughter, Sydnee. What joy she brought to her life in her final days.
Unfortunately, Lana was diagnosed with cancer in 2020, and never fully recovered from this terrible disease. Given only 2 weeks to live, in true Lana fashion, she wanted to just keep going, so she partied here on earth another 6 weeks! What a blessing it was to her to see so many faces of her beautiful friends and family one more time, until they meet again.
Lana was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Media Bunt, brother-in-law B.F. Jones and nephew Jay Bunt. She is survived by daughter Angie Clampitt Vaughan and son-in-law Gary of Hockley, Texas and son John “Kip” Clampitt and daughter-in-law Cindy of Hutto, Texas. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jake, Alex and Jordan Gentry, Sydnee Vaughan, Sean Clampitt and wife Ashley, and Hannah Munnelly and husband Pascal, along with great-grandchildren, Raegan, Harrison, Samuel and Owen. Also surviving are one brother Jerry Bunt and wife Janice of Longview, Texas, and one sister, Janette Jones of Hallsville, Texas. She is also survived by her precious nieces Robin Garvin (husband Wade) and Lanette Gravitt (husband Barry), along with her handsome nephews Jeff Bunt (wife Lori) and Jody Bunt (wife Elena), along with many cousins and great nieces and nephews. A special mention of her life-long friend of over 50 years to Molly Peyton. You and your family will hold a special place forever in our hearts.
