James Rickey Godwin, 64, of Marshall passed away September 1, 2021 in Longview. He was born November 9, 1956 in Prescott, Arkansas to Len Dale Godwin and Barbara Jean Tuttle Godwin. Rickey grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School in 1975, going on to East Texas State University in Commerce and graduating with his degree in business in 1978. He was a Boy Scout Troup #204 and also went on to become an Eagle Scout. While in high school, Rickey enjoyed playing sports, whether it was running track, baseball, or football, he seemed to excel at it. He also enjoyed being on and around water, going skiing, fishing or riding in the boat, as long as he had his friends around him, he enjoyed it. He is a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving companion, Shannon Paul; his mother, Barbara Godwin of Marshall; sister, Lenda Spradling and her husband Randy of Marshall; nephew, Trent Turner and his wife Brynn and their children of Salado, TX; niece, Summer Willis and her husband Brian and their children of Marshall, as well as a host of cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. Services are entrusted to Sullivan Funeral Home.
