Harold W. Griffin

November 15, 1932 ~ May 28, 2019 (age 86)

Mr. Harold Wyatt Griffin, age 86 died on May 28, 2019 at his home from a terminal cancer. Harold was born in Marshall, TX and was the son of Phillip Brazzell and Bonnie Young Griffin. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Marshall, TX.
Harold worked for T&P Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad as a switchman and brakeman for 45 years. He was a very hardworking man who loved and enjoyed being with his family for their wonderful meals his wife Patsy cooked and all the fun shared together. He adored his grandchildren and they so loved their dear Pepaw! He took pride in his vegetable garden and enjoyed old cars and hunting in his early years. Later in life after retiring, he enjoyed going to the Louisiana Downs Horse Races. He loved studying the horses by detail and making his $2.00 bet, but NEVER try to get him to bet over $2.00!!! He loved watching all kinds of sports and was an super fan of the Dallas Cowboys and also never missed watching Jeopardy every day and especially at the present time with recent excitement of seeing the contestant who just hit the 2 million dollar mark!! He also enjoyed watching good old movies and like reminiscing about them. Everyone that knew Harold talked about his quiet sweet spirit and how kind he was and that he always had a smile on his face. Harold was so funny when he would tell a story and could make everyone laugh! He spent numerous hours playing with his grandkids and was never too proud to let the grand girls sit for hours in his lap rolling his (what was left) hair and playing beauty shop or just about whatever they wanted! He loved each and every one of his grandchildren with all his heart.
He graduated from Marshall High School in 1950. In 1952, Harold married the love of his life Patsy Ruth Denney Griffin and they were married 64 years. Their love was an example of true commitment, forgiveness and never giving up. Harold raised his five children to be hard working, fair and never take advantaged and appreciate what God has given you.
Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Patsy Ruth Griffin; son, Matthew Griffin; his parents; two sisters, Bobbie Jo Smith and Ava Jean Mauldin; and two brothers-in-law, Cass Smith and H.S.
