Graveside services will be conducted for Gary H. Laughlin, age 67, of Hallsville, on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 10 AM at The Little Chapel by the Lake at Colonial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall with Thomas Faulkner officiating. Visitation will be Friday, July 27, 2018, at Sullivan Funeral Home in Marshall from 5-7 PM.
Gary H. Laughlin passed away July 20, 2018 after losing his battle with cancer. He was born June 4, 1951 in Marshall, Texas and graduated from Marshall High School in 1970. He did six years in the National Guard before joining the IBEW as an apprentice and later as a journeyman electrician. He went into business in 1980 by re-opening his father’s company, Laughlin Electric which opened in Marshall around 1948. Gary worked hard at his business and maintained an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and was voted Longview’s favorite electrician multiple times.
He enjoyed deer hunting, raising cattle, gardening and his favorite, car racing having raced dirt track himself and later owned a modified car with his son Jared. He enjoyed going to NASCAR races and followed all the races on TV.
He was preceded in death by his father Maurice and his mother Geraldine Laughlin.
Gary is survived by his wife, Terry; son, Jared and daughter Stacy; and 5 grandchildren, Logan, Alyiah, Tessa, Ally, and Rylan. He is also survived by three brothers, Peyton, Fred, and Gale.
