Evelyn Cook, born July 25, 1927, made her final journey home on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2017. In her final hours she was surrounded by her Family. She was the daughter of Earl and Lavonia Cromer.
Evelyn was a devout Christian and member of Victory Baptist Church in Marshall, TX. She was a musician able to perform music by ear on the piano, keyboard, guitar and the mandolin which she played in a band at churches and nursing homes with band members Gene and Mildred Aultman, Frank Graves, Zane Jackson and Jim Kale. She performed her music, which she dearly loved doing up to within a couple of months of her joining the “Angel Band” to which she has been assigned by her Heavenly Father. She was active in church and weekly visited individuals at Marshall Manor Nursing Home.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, J.W. Cook; her parents; sisters, Bennie Joaquin, Katherine Dreesen, and Louise Fyffe; brothers, Carl and David Cromer; and grandson, Christopher Woodson. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Woodson and husband Danny and Deborah Maloney and husband Bill; grandsons, Timothy Woodson, and Jeffery and Justin Abraham; great grandchildren, Christopher Woodson II, Brayden and Jaycee Woodson, Kamron Abraham, Landon Peeler and Kalia Saludares ; sister, Mary Buzbee; and numerous nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in the chapel of Sullivan Funeral Home in Marshall, TX. Officiating will be Bro. Ron Segers of Victory Baptist Church, assisted by Bro. Kenneth Flanagan. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Burial will be at Colonial Gardens Cemetery.
Evelyn lived a full and complete life, always putting others before herself, and being sure to say something positive to build others up. She was truly one of God’s Angels during her time here on Earth. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who were privileged to be in her family and those blessed to know her.
