Ernie Howard Payne

Ernie Howard Payne, 76, of Waskom passed away January 7, 2023 in Shreveport, LA. Mr. Payne was born July 29, 1946 in Haynesville, LA to Ernest T. Payne and Virginia Ruth Kirkpatrick Payne. Ernie graduated high school and married Peggy Lynn Paulin June 7, 1965 in Marshall. He later went into the military serving his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He enjoyed spending time with his great niece, Jamie Gossens. He is a former member of the Patriot Guard Riders as well as the Waskom Volunteer Fire Department and had received the Life Member Volunteer Fire Fighter Award.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy Payne; sons: Derek Payne and wife Heidi, Dusty Payne and husband Brandon; brother: David Payne; sister-in-law: Paula Richardson; great niece: Jamie Gossens; adopted son: Jayson Beasley; as well as a number of extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Virginia Payne.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at the Little Chapel by the Lake at Colonial Gardens Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2023 with Jayson Beasley officiating. Interment will follow in Colonial Gardens Cemetery.
