Emma Sue McGuire

February 10, 1933 ~ November 8, 2018 (age 85)

Emma Sue McGuire, 85 passed away on November 8, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. Emma Sue was born February 10, 1933 in Elysian Fields, TX to Charles J. Pippen and Ethel Hanson Pippen. Funeral Services will be conducted at Sullivan Funeral Home on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 1 p.m. Officiating will be Chaplain Lawrence Thompson of Heart to Heart Hospice. Graveside services will follow at Colonial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 pm until 7 pm on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Sullivan Funeral Home.
Mrs. McGuire was a legal secretary for numerous attorneys in Carthage, TX. She attended Elysian Fields schools where she graduated as Salutatorian of her class. She also attended Panola College where she received an Associate degree in Business. Emma Sue married Calvin McGuire at Golden Rule Presbyterian Church in Elysian Fields, TX on August 22, 1954. Mrs. McGuire enjoyed reading, singing, playing the piano, and spending time with her grand and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father Charles Jefferson Pippen and mother Ethel Pippen; sisters, Janie Howell, Lucille Earl; brothers, Charles Pippen Jr. and Dan Pippen; and great grandson Paxton Hogan.
Survivors include husband of 64 years Calvin McGuire; daughters, Cynthia Hightower, and Sandra Helton and spouse Darrell; grandchildren, Brittany Hightower, Bobbie Webb Helton, Michael Helton and spouse Heather, Clint Helton and fiancé Alicia Frazier, Steven Helton, Ashley Helton and fiancé Paul Hogan. Great grandchildren, Christian, Brandon, Chevy, McKenna, Lynden, Calvin Grayson and Holly Helton; sister, JoAnn Klotz and husband Bill; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers are Michael Helton, Clint Helton, Steven Helton, Christian Helton, Brandon Helton, and Paul Hogan.
The family would like to thank Encompass Home Health as well as Hearts Way Hospice for their loving care.
Family would also like to acknowledge The Order of Eastern Star Chapter in Waskom, TX, it was one of her love and passions.
