September 9, 1996 ~ January 5, 2020 (age 23)

Tribute

Dusty “Duck” Gabbard, 23 of Marshall, TX passed away January 5, 2020.  He was born September 9, 1996 in Lufkin to Max Sherman Gabbard, Jr. and Lea Willis.  Dusty grew up around Lufkin spending a lot of his time outside, as boys and young men do.  He loved to fish, run the roads and especially loved to climb.  He would climb just about anything and try his best to get to the top, the only problem is that once he was at the top, he didn’t like to come down or would not come down without the aid of his dad.  Dusty was tragically killed in an automobile accident on Sunday, January 5, 2020, leaving this earth with his love, Haley, who was also in the accident.

Dusty is survived by his dad, Max Sherman Gabbard, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Lufkin; his mom, Lea Willis and her husband Jason of Marshall; children, Aubrey, Gabby, Paisley, and Max; sister, Whitney Lewis and her husband Jeffrey; brothers, Jacob Campbell and his wife Corey, Dakota Gabbard, Robert Willis II and his wife Heather; step-brothers, Justin, Nick, and Zack; step-sisters, Mary, Shyla, Melinda, Tesha, and Amanda; grandparents, James and Debbie Clary, Rick and Ginger Wiltse; great grandmother, Betty Nichols; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  He is preceded in death by his grandfather John Craig and aunt Carrie.

A time of visitation with Dusty’s family will be held at Sullivan Funeral Home on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 6 to 8 p.m.  A service to celebrate Dusty’s life will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the Colonial Chapel of Sullivan Funeral Home, Marshall, TX.
