Loving father and grandfather. Charles “Chuck” Abma grew up on a forty acre farm in San Joaquin CA, he was born Sept. 6, 1936 in Wasco, CA, he enjoyed farming, fishing, repairing old cars and being a country boy.
His first language was Dutch since his father was born in Holland.
At 2 years old he decided he'd be a chemist when he grew up. He enjoyed a brilliant career as an organic research chemist at WITCO/ US Peroxygen, and was granted several patents.
In 1991 his company, WITCO, relocated him to Marshall where he built his own home with the help of only one friend. He found a welcoming, caring, wonderful community and friends in Marshall.
He retired early to enjoy life on 5 acres, lots of time spent, gardening, always enjoying the fresh vegetables he grew. He volunteered at Christus Good Shepherd in Marshall, was an active member at the local Lions Club and a member at Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
