Richard Gordon “Dick” Dickerson, age 85 passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Shreveport, La. on February 18, 1932 to Mamie McFarland and Fred Lamar Dickerson.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 6, 2017 at The Little Chapel By The Lake in Colonial Gardens Cemetery, Marshall, Tx. Officiating will be Dr. Ron Klingsick of Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church. Visitation will be at the chapel from 1:30 pm to service time.
Mr. Dickerson graduated from Lufkin High School in 1950 then served his country as a member of the National Guard for two years, and the U.S. Navy for four years. After military service Mr. Dickerson held various positions in oilfield services. During retirement Dick and his wife, Billie Marie, enjoyed traveling and living in Branson, Mo. Most of all he was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Billie Marie Dickerson; his parents; two sisters, and one brother. He is survived by one daughter, Pamela Kay Wells; one son, Roger Dickerson and wife Brenda; five grandchildren, Matt Dickerson and wife Kristen, Noah Wells and wife Heather, Adam Wells, Daniel Dickerson, Samuel Dickerson; five great-grandchildren; nieces, Gena Hanner, Lynda Crane, Mary Pat McLaughlin; one nephew, Larry Dickerson and a host of friends.
