Margaret Lawson Cox age 79, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at her home in Marshall after a lengthy illness. She was born November 5, 1937 in Marshall, TX to Margaret Miller Lawson and John “Frank” Lawson.
Margaret was a 1956 graduate of Marshall High School. That same year she married Julius E. “Sonny” Cox, Jr. Margaret worked for the Marshall Memorial Hospital as a histologist in the pathology department until pursing her second career. After she graduated from Tyler Junior College, Summa Cum Laude, she became a Texas licensed nursing home administrator on June 1, 2012.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her three children, Cheryl L. Eubanks and husband Homer of Tyler, TX, Cynthia “Cindy” Cox of Marshall, TX and Julius E. “Trey” Cox, III and wife Stormy of Marshall, TX; five grandchildren; seven great grand kids; sister, Frankie Ann Dickie and husband Edward; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the “Little Chapel by the Lake” in Colonial Gardens Cemetery. Rev. Harold Coburn of First United Methodist Church of Marshall will officiate. Visitation will be at Sullivan Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
